Steve Hughes grew up in Raritan, New Jersey. He is currently a student in the University of Illinois at Chicago’s (UIC) Biomedical Visualization (BVIS) program, Steve is able to combine his passions of anatomy, biology, and illustration to create powerful, educational tools. He graduated from the University of New England (UNE) with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marine Science/Marine Biology with a minor in Art. While attending UNE, Steve was the captain of the Men’s Lacrosse team and a volunteer high school lacrosse coach in Saco, Maine.
Working with, UI Health, UIC's Department of Medicine, and UIC's Department of Biomedical Health Information Sciences, Steve is currently researching the development and implementation of a patient treatment decision aid designed using infographics. This aid is intended to help at risk women with a history of gestational diabetes prolong and/or prevent the onset of type II diabetes.
During his education in BVIS, he has become well versed in 3D asset creation, 2D illustration, and design. He has enjoyed a plethora of projects in educational poster creation, app development, interactive design, and more.
